Project details

The City is set to begin construction on verge, road and landscaping enhancements to Girrawheen Avenue from Marangaroo Drive to Beach Road.

The proposed upgrades are intended to lower vehicle speeds with traffic calming treatments, improve streetlighting, fix ongoing maintenance issues, introduce new tree landscaping and upgrade the shared path on the western side of the road, providing a revitalised street environment for the Girrawheen community.

Background

Between Marangaroo Drive and Nanovich Avenue the proposed upgrades include widened central median and raised traffic islands to accommodate existing and new trees, a reduced 40km/h speed limit, four (4) sets of speed humps, two (2) raised roundabouts, a raised intersection, a midblock zebra crossing, new streetlighting, drainage improvements and road resurfacing.

The existing 3m red asphalt shared path on the western verge from Hudson Avenue to Amberton Avenue will also be extended south to Beach Road and north to Marangaroo Drive; accompanied by road resurfacing from Nanovich Avenue to Beach Road.

Construction is scheduled to commence in early 2026 as part of the 2025/26 capital works program; and will continue into next financial year.
