Project details

The City is currently developing a new Public Health Plan (PHP) to guide how we promote and support community health and wellbeing over the coming years.

As a key stakeholder, your input is vital in helping us understand the needs, priorities, and opportunities across our community.

The PHP will address areas such as:

  • nutrition and physical activity
  • mental health and wellbeing
  • alcohol and drug-related harm
  • injury prevention
  • environmental health (including safe food, water, and pest control)
  • social connection and community inclusion.

We are reaching out to gather insights through a community survey, which will support the collation of local health data, identify key issues, and shape actions that are aligned with both local needs and state health priorities.

Feedback invited

We invite you to share the survey within your networks and ask everyone to complete it by Friday, 17 October 2025 - See link in Community Survey tab below.

Community feedback will directly inform the development of the PHP, ensuring it reflects the lived experience, professional insight, and community perspective across our region.

Development of the PHP will be completed by June 2026.

Background

The Public Health Act 2016 requires each local government to produce a public health plan by 4 June 2026.

The City’s plan must be consistent with the State Public Health Plan whilst responding to local public health needs. The plan must:

  • identify the public health needs of the local government district
  • examine data relating to health status and health determinants in the local government district
  • establish objectives and policy priorities for the promotion and protection of public health in the local government district
  • describe the development and delivery of public health services in the local government district and
  • include a report on the local government’s performance of its functions under the Act.
